The NPR and L.A. TheaterWorks production of the Peter Ackerman radio comedy, "I'd Rather Eat Pants" airs on NPR's Morning Edition and the NPR Website - but is it worth a listen?
On Saturday evening during the 1997 Friends of Old-Time Radio Convention after the awards were distributed, Jay Hickerson made a somewhat strange request and asked Sybil Trent, Miriam Wolfe, and Vivian Block to come to the stage (Miss Block was not available, having already left the Convention).
Of course, the ladies had no idea that Jay was calling them to perform a "Battle of the Baby Criers!" Both women during their careers on radio were called upon to perform baby cries, so this "battle" was indeed a battle of titans! We have streaming video of this event in RealMedia format.
